Divemaster and Instructor Classes

Dive Master
The Divemaster rating is the first level on the professional diver ladder. This certification denotes a diver who has achieved a level of proficiency in both dive training and supervision. A Divemaster is qualified to both assist in teaching situations and to assume responsibility for divers under their care. Prerequisites for this course are the Rescue Diver certification, be at least 18 years of age, and have logged a minimum of 20 dives. A total of 60 logged dives must be achieved prior to certification as a Divemaster.  This course is taught according to a schedule that is prearranged between you and your instructor. Whether you desire a career or part-time position in diving or just wish to reach a high degree of competency, this is a challenging and most rewarding course.

Assistant Instructor
The PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) course not only provides valuable experience and preparation for the Instructor rating, but also expands the skills and abilities of the Divemaster. The Assistant Instructor course is taught as the first part of the Instructor Development program.  During this course you will concentrate on developing an academic presentation style that will allow you to effectively conduct classroom sessions for any PADI course. After successfully completing this course you can either use your new skills and practical knowledge as an Assistant Instructor or go directly to the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) portion of the Instructor Development Course (IDC).  The PADI Assistant Instructor Course is taught by our PADI Course Director.

The career opportunities for an Assistant Instructor are very exciting. A PADI Assistant Instructor can certify students as a Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Diver; conduct the complete Discover Scuba pool experience; conduct the PADI Medic First Aid Course (after additional training); and certify students in any non-diving specialty such as Equipment Specialist and Oxygen First Aid (after additional training).

Emergency First Response (1st Aid) Instructor
The purpose of the Emergency First Response course is to provide CPR and 1st Aid to individuals in an emergency.  In this course the PADI Instructor or Assistant Instructor learns to provide the recreational diver with the proper emergency skills necessary to deal with diving and non diving emergencies.  The Emergency First Response Instructor Course is taught at Aquatic Adventures Scuba Academy by our full time EFR Instructor Trainer.

DAN Oxygen 1st Aid Instructor
Oxygen is the recognized course of treatment in almost all dive emergencies.  This course prepares the PADI Instructor or Assistant Instructor to teach the skills necessary to deliver Oxygen 1st Aid in an emergency.  The DAN Oxygen Provider course is also recognized by PADI as a Distinctive Specialty.

DAN Training Center
Aquatic Adventures Scuba Academy was the first Dive Center in the Region to be awarded the DAN Training Center designation.  We offer both Provider and Instructor Level certifications in many DAN Courses.  Besides Oxygen Provider we offer DAN Advanced Oxygen, DAN AED First Aid, DAN Basic Life Support for Dive Professionals (BLS-Pro), DAN Hazardous Marine Life First Aid, , DAN On Site Neurological Assessment, and DAN Remote Emergency Oxygen (REMO2) First Aid.

PADI Open Water Instructor - IDC
In 1985, the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) set the standard for Instructor Training. Comprehensive training combined with the support provided by the wide variety of professional PADI educational materials earns PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers. The IDC format was modified in January, 2001 to conform with modern trends in recreational diving.  Today, the prerequisites and skills training of the IDC ensure that PADI Instructors continue to teach to a highest standard in the recreational diving community.. During your IDC you will learn to manage and adapt the PADI System to meet the individual needs of your students.

The PADI IDC stresses development. This is a performance-based program. You will progress at your own rate under the guidance of your Course Director. The goal is a low stress environment in which you will expand your knowledge, skills and techniques enabling you to function as a highly qualified PADI Instructor.

We have a full time PADI Course Director at Aquatic Adventures who insures that our Instructor Candidates receive the most up to date training.

Worldwide, more people have learned to dive with the PADI System of diver education than with any other recreational scuba program. Being an integral professional part of this program is a rewarding and worthwhile endeavor. PADI Scuba Instructor Training

Instructor Orientation Course (IOC)
The Instructor Orientation course is designed for Scuba Instructors who are certified by an agency other than PADI.  This course recognizes that these individuals are already accomplished scuba instructors and provides the necessary information to form a bridge so that individual can achieve teaching status with PADI.

Master Scuba Diver Trainer
The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer program prepares the Open Water Scuba Instructor to immediately begin teaching five or more PADI Specialty courses.  Certifying PADI Master Scuba Divers is one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching recreational diving.  Teaching Specialty Dive Training is a sure way to make sure that divers get the most out of diving.  Aquatic Adventures has a PADI Course Director who oversees all of our Specialty Diver Classes to insure the most up to date and enjoyable training possible.

IDC Staff Instructor
This course prepares the PADI Master Diver Trainer to assist Course Directors in the conducting of the Instructor Development Course (IDC).  This program not only prepares more experienced instructors to assume greater leadership but allows them to independently train Assistant Instructors and is a prerequisite for PADI Master Instructor.
