Marty Rayman
Marty has been instructing Scuba
diving since 1985. In 1989 Marty founded Aquatic Adventures Scuba Academy, which
he moved to its present location in April of 2004. Marty works full time at the Academy,
where he balances his time between teaching and leading many of the dive trips
sponsored by Aquatic Adventures. He has lead scuba trips and dived in over 50 different
countries and islands throughout the Caribbean, Central America, South America,
Asia, the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans,
Micronesia, Australia, Galapagos, and the Red Sea. Marty is also a
volunteer diver at the National Aquarium in
Baltimore.
As a PADI Master Instructor, and Course Director, and a DAN Instructor Trainer,
Marty oversees
all aspects of our training program from Open Water through our Instructor Training
Courses. Marty has made over 2400 logged dives and has personally certified over
2900
divers and Instructors during his career. Marty
was also the first Course Director, in the region, to be
certified by the Diver's Alert Network (DAN) as a Diving
Emergency Specialist Instructor Trainer.
Maureen Rayman
Maureen became a certified diver
in 1992. She readily admits that scuba diving has changed her entire life both
personally and professionally. She was certified as a Master Scuba Diver in 1993
and a Divemaster in 1994. In 2002 Maureen completed her Instructor
Certification and is currently certified as a Master Diver Trainer. Maureen has dived throughout the Cayman Islands, Bonaire,
Curacao, Cozumel,
Dominica, Grand Bahama, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Red Sea, Australia and Galapagos.
Jim Little
Jim is certified as a PADI Master Instructor. He has been
diving since 1994. He was certified as a Divemaster in 1995, an Assistant
Instructor in 1997, Master Scuba Diver and as an Open Water Scuba
Instructor in 1998. Jim has logged over 800 scuba dives and his personal passion is wreck diving
and underwater video. He particularly likes diving on sunken German "U" Boats.
His goal is to dive and videotape each and every "U" Boat that was sunk off the
coast of the United States during World War II.
Bud Burkhart
Bud is both an Assistant Instructor and a repair technician at Aquatic
Adventures. Bud first learned to dive in 1996 and has dived
in the Florida Keys, Grand Cayman, the outer banks of North
Carolina and the St. Lawrence River. His favorite type of
diving is drift diving and wreck diving. His goal is to
become a Scuba Instructor.
Patrick Evans
Patrick is certified as a Master
Scuba Diver Trainer. He made his first dive in
Jamaica in 1990 and was certified as an Instructor in 2000.
Patrick has dived extensively throughout Central America (Belize,
Cancun, Cozumel, the Cenotes) and Florida. His
particular diving passion is Technical Deep diving and Underwater
Photography, and is currently working toward his IDC Staff
Instructor Certification.
Hilary Foster
Hilary is an Open Water Scuba
Instructor at Aquatic Adventures. She learned to dive in 2003 and
completed both her Master Scuba Diver and Divemaster at Aquatic
Adventures. She has dived off North Carolina, in Florida,
the Caribbean and Fiji. Hilary enjoys fish identification
and is an avid underwater photographer.
Lyle Forbes
Lyle is a Master Instructor on Aquatic Adventures teaching
staff.. Lyle
earned his Open Water Instructor, Master Diver Trainer and IDC
Staff Instructor certifications here at Aquatic Adventures. He
loves both cavern and wreck diving.
Lyle's next personal goal is to become a Technical Diving
Instructor..
John Grimsley
John has completed both his Master
Scuba Diver and Divemaster Certifications at Aquatic
Adventures. He works on staff as a Divemaster assisting
with classes. He particularly enjoys underwater
photography, and intends to pursue his Instructor Rating later
this year.
Cathy Hamilton
Cathy is an IDC Staff Instructor and originally learned to dive in Germany in 1985 She has
been a dive professional since 2000, and moved to the area from
Texas and Pennsylvania, having taught in both. Her love of
diving has taken her to many locations including

, Curacao, Bonaire,
Cozumel

Bahamas
, as well as
US
locations including
Florida
,
Georgia
,
Virginia
,
Pennsylvania

Texas

and
Hawaii
. Along with a
diving husband, Cathy has one son who is a certified diver, and
one son who plans to get certified in 2007.
Her dream dives include the Galapagos and Australia.
Cathy is also a volunteer diver at the National Aquarium in
Baltimore.
Deborah
Jeffries
Deborah is a Divemaster at
Aquatic Adventures and also works retail in the Dive Center. She learned to dive in 2003 and
completed Master Scuba Diver in 2005, and Divemaster at Aquatic Adventures in
2007.
She has dived mostly in the Caribbean, Florida, off the coast of
North Carolina, and the Sea of Cortez. Deborah enjoys
learning about fish behavior and would one day like to
participate in ocean conservation research projects.
Betsy Jordan
Betsy is a Master Scuba Diver
Trainer and also teaches eight diving specialties. She has dived in Crystal
River, Florida, the Bay Islands of Honduras, Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, the
Sea of Cortez, Dominica, and Micronesia (Palau and Yap) and Galapagos. Betsy
has personally logged over 600 dives and is an avid
underwater photographer. She is accomplished in both video and still
photography.
Mike Kefalas
Mike is Master
Diver Trainer at Aquatic Adventures. He has been
diving since 2002 and just completed his Divemaster certification with
Aquatic Adventures
in 2006. Mike teaches 6 different PADI dive specialties. He has dived in the Mediterranean, Red Sea,
Florida
and
California
. His favorite diving is drift diving.
Bill Lloyd
Bill is an Assistant Instructor at Aquatic Adventures.
He first learned to dive in Okinawa Japan in 1988. Since then
Bill has enjoyed diving in Australia, Madagascar, the Seychelles,
the Canary Islands, throughout the Caribbean, including the
Bahamas, Belize, Little Cayman, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Thomas,
St. Croix. Bill especially enjoys wreck diving but is happy
for any opportunity to get wet. Bill's goal it to become a
Scuba Instructor.
Wayne Summers
Wayne is a member of our Instructional staff who learned to dive in 1988 in
Pittsburgh, PA. He completed his Divemaster Certification
at Aquatic Adventures in 1999 and his Assistant Instructor in
April, 2000 and his Instructor rating in October, 2000. He
is currently certified as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer. In addition to diving in the
Florida Keys, the Bahamas, Mexico, Australia and Galapagos, Wayne has dived extensively
in freshwater lakes; most notably the New York Finger
Lakes, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Wayne especially enjoys working with new
divers. When not
diving he is busy playing volleyball and rock climbing.
Kim Walker
Kim is a Divemaster at Aquatic Adventures. He originally
learned to dive in 1997 while stationed in Hawaii with the Air
Force. Upon his return to this area he met local divers and
became an avid diver himself and now has over 300 logged
dives. He completed his Rescue Diver in 2006 and Divemaster
in 2007, both at Aquatic Adventures. He has dived locally
in Florida, South and North Carolina and Virginia. He has
also dived throughout the Caribbean, as well as Guam and
Malaysia. Kim's goal is to "dive in all of the world's top
diving destinations at least once."
Peyton
Williams
Peyton is a Master Diver Trainer who originally learned to dive in 1972. After his wife
and children learned to dive he decided to dive more often and
completed Master Scuba Diver, his Divemaster, Assistant Instructor
and Instructor certifications at Aquatic Adventures. He is also
certified as both a Medic First Aid Instructor and a DAN O2
Instructor. Although Peyton prefers areas like the
warm Caribbean, he has also enjoyed diving in Europe at Normandy
(on wrecks from World War II), around the Italian island of Elba
in the Mediterranean Sea, and other European sites.
He has dived for fossils in the Cooper River and has dived other
rivers and lakes in the Southeast and Cozumel in the Caribbean. His eventual goal is
dive the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Larry
Woodward
Larry is an Assistant Instructor and helps with classes. He completed
his Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Master Scuba Diver and
Divemaster Certifications at Aquatic Adventures. His loves
to dive in the Caribbean, and Aruba is his particular favorite.
His personal underwater interests are photography, fish
identification and marine ecology. When not diving, Larry
likes mountain biking, kayaking, rock
climbing and has participated in the Chesapeake Bay swim.
